I am following with interest tales of woe and joy regarding self publishing. Particularly because I’m seriously contemplating going down that route to see what I can see, do what I can do and drink what beer I can drink during the process.
There was an instinctive feeling from me that self publishing ain’t all that. That there’s a whole minefield of self-pubbed hacks that are in dire need of a reality check (but microsoft don’t include that in Word yet).
But then there are glorious tales of those who have done rather well and indications that there are far more wonderful new writers out there who are bloody awesome and should be held as shining examples of how great it all is. Those, I am discovering, are dissipating the stigma and long may they continue.
In conclusion to all that: I am inspired to continue.
I am currently involved in a… I don’t really know how to describe it properly. Pulp sci-fi? Comedy science fiction? Humourous space stuff! Semi-pulp Sci-fi doodah?
Whatever it eventually gets pigeonholed as it’ll be a while before some eyes can see it. At best I write a couple of hundred words a day but like I pretty much said in my previous “300” post I’m comfortable with that. As long as I write something then progress is being made and that light at the end of the tunnel is probably a wormhole or something.
